Terms of Service

quarry turns uploaded files into paid semantic-search API endpoints. It serves two roles:

• Creators upload files, index them, set a per-query price, and publish datasets as HTTP endpoints.
• Agents and other buyers query published endpoints and pay per request in USDC over the x402 protocol, settled on-chain on Base. No account is required to query.

You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract. Creator accounts require accurate information; you are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your credentials secure. We may suspend accounts that violate these terms.

You keep ownership of the files and data you upload. You grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to host, parse, index, cache, and serve that content solely to operate the service — including returning excerpts of it to paying buyers as query results.

You represent and warrant that:

• you have all rights needed to upload the content and to license it as described above,
• the content does not infringe third-party rights and is not illegal, and
• it does not contain third-party personal data unless you have a lawful basis to sell access to it.

We may remove content or unpublish datasets that we reasonably believe violate these terms or applicable law.

Queries are priced per request in USDC, as advertised in each dataset's free discovery contract and in the HTTP 402 challenge. Payment settles on-chain before the query runs. Requests that fail validation or hit a precondition (4xx, 409) are answered before settlement and are not charged.

On-chain payments are irreversible. Once a paid query has executed, it is non-refundable. You are responsible for paying on the network the endpoint advertises; payments signed for another network fail verification.

Creator revenue settles into a payout wallet provisioned for your account and managed through a third-party wallet infrastructure provider. You can withdraw your balance to an external address at any time, subject to a minimum withdrawal amount shown in the dashboard. You are solely responsible for the accuracy of withdrawal addresses — transfers to a wrong address cannot be reversed — and for any taxes on your revenue.

You agree not to:

• circumvent or attempt to circumvent payment, rate limits, or access controls,
• probe, disrupt, or overload the service, or use it to distribute malware,
• upload or sell access to content you have no right to distribute,
• use the service for money laundering, sanctions evasion, or any unlawful purpose.

The service uses public blockchain infrastructure. You acknowledge that on-chain transactions are public and irreversible, that stablecoin and network availability are outside our control, and that testnet deployments use tokens with no monetary value. You are responsible for the wallets and keys you use to pay or withdraw.

The service itself — its software, design, and documentation — is our property or that of our licensors. If you send us feedback, we may use it without obligation to you.

The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. Datasets are third-party content: we do not verify, endorse, or guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or fitness of any dataset or query result. Buyers evaluate datasets via the free discovery contract before paying and use results at their own risk.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill. Our aggregate liability for any claim is limited to the greater of $100 and the amounts you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.

You will indemnify and hold us harmless from claims arising out of your content, your use of the service, or your breach of these terms.

You may stop using the service and delete your account at any time; withdraw your balance first. We may suspend or terminate access for breach of these terms. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including 3, 9, 10, and 11) survive.

We may update these terms; material changes will be announced on the site, and continued use after they take effect constitutes acceptance. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and disputes belong to the state or federal courts located in Delaware.
